Magical 11th Century Burgundy Chateau

 

The château is a luxuriously appointed 11th century family home located in the heart of the Yonne, close to Chablis and 55 minutes north of Beaune, the wine capital of the region. It also offers the uniqueness of escape and proximity to Paris, so you can arrive in just 1 hour by fast train or 2.5 hours by car.

 

An outstanding venue for memorable family celebrations and idyllic getaways with friends, the chateau was the home of actress Annabel Buffet and provides an ideal base for wine-tasting tours of the Burgundy vineyards, and visiting World Heritage Listed sights like Vezelay and Abbey of Fontenay.



Situated in the heart of Burgundian countryside, nestled near ancient woods and neighbouring historic villages like Noyers-sur-Serein, the château is approached through a fairy tale iron gate under the canopy of a 400-year-old chestnut tree, with a large ancient walled garden alongside it, fruit trees and meandering grounds.

Beautifully furnished and sympathetically renovated, Château Gérard, offers the perfect combination of sumptuous living with gorgeous period features and details. Inside the chateau, you will find 10 spacious bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, several of which are en-suite, and 3 separate W/Cs. On the ground floor, you will find a magnificent entrance hall; grand dining room with two C14th fireplaces; a turret library and salon leading through onto the back terrace, facing southwards towards the tranquil and magical garden that leads to the eco-heated pool and sun loungers (size: 11 x 7 with high performance solar cover). The lounge, dining room and Piano hall all have fabulous open fireplaces. A table-tennis room can be found in the servant’s quarters and board games, playing cards, a croquet set and a chest of children’s games are also available in the château. Guests also have access to a tennis court in the village.

 

As a special indulgence you will be welcomed with a glass of sparkling wine and, on arrangement, have access to a private chef, catering and even a classically trained sommelier who worked with Gordon Ramsay. The chateau can sleep from 2 - 20 guests.
